Good Works Brigade

We at Disciple Shades believe that our purpose is a lot greater than just selling sunglasses. Before the product and before the profit, we started with a simple philosophy of faith: faith in our message, faith in our intentions and faith in our calling to create something that serves as a reminder for living in the light. Faith, however, entails not just a state of believing but an obligation of doing. In James' words, "What good is it...if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds?" (2:14)

There are many ways you can do for others and bring light into someone's life. Perhaps every day after work you pick up the mail for your neighbor who has trouble walking. Or you recently pulled over to help someone whose car had broken down. Possibly you've taken on a bigger commitment, like volunteering at a homeless shelter, making sack lunches at a food bank, or raising money to help victims of fire, flood, earthquakes and other disasters on the other side of the world. Even a small act of reaching out and lending a hand can make a huge difference in someone's life.

Doing "good" is about being the best you can be and giving the most you can—to yourself, your friends, your community, and our world. Wherever you live on this big, beautiful planet, whether you wear a beret or a burkha, a serape or sweats, we're all part of one universal family. Committing a single act of kindness can set the stage for inspiring the next person—and the next person and the next person and the next—to follow suit. It's in this spirit of keeping that connection going and growing that we created our Good Works Brigade web forum.

We know your good deeds come from the heart and that you don't expect material recompense. (You know your ultimate reward comes after this lifetime!) But Disciple Shades nonetheless wants to give you a big pat on the back—and a t-shirt shirt to go with it. Yep, we'll send you a free t-shirt with the Disciple Shades logo on the back and, on the front, our Works Brigade slogan: Think Heavenly, Act Locally

All you have to do is tell us about your Good Work so we can post it on our website. If you want to send us a pic of you performing your good deed, even better!

We're hoping this humble giveaway will inspire you to become a person of action. So get out in your community, look around and take notice of how you can change things for the better. Start making a difference by doing—and then let us know about it. We'll post your story, you'll get a cool t-shirt, and we'll feel that we've served a higher purpose as a force of good.
